Vivienne Netherwood

After gaining the Certificate in Feltmaking with the International Feltmakers Association, Vivienne has gone on to explore the creative possibilities of felt in pictures, mixed media objects and accessories. In particular, she loves to work with fabrics, prefelts and resists to create original designs.

She gains inspiration for her designs from many different sources in the natural and urban environments and is influenced by a longstanding interest in photography and graphic art.

Vivienne’s pictures have been exhibited at various galleries this year both as a solo artist and as part of the re-View textile group. She has also welcomed visitors for Wirral Open Studios in 2016 and 2017.

Her work showcases the rich colours and textures that can be obtained from fine Merino, Perendale and Corriedale wool, together with a range of different fabrics which are often upcycled from unwanted garments and scarves.

Vivienne’s Scarves range from light and ethereal cobweb felt to sumptuous nuno felt. The wool, fabric and silk combinations are always gorgeously soft and warm. Her bags have smooth, organic curves with integral felted handles and may feature vintage broaches or chunky glass beads.
