Growing up by the sea, the coast and wild spaces are important to me for escape, renewal and artistic inspiration.

I create artwork that conveys a sense of place in terms of my direct experience, the ever- changing light and the patterns created by the action of the elements on the land. I aim to transport the viewer to an inner place or memory.

I am interested in the positive effect that outdoor spaces have on the mind and body and how art can reproduce a similar result when a painting is perceived and experienced in the same way. I want my paintings to recreate the feeling of being present in a moment in the landscape and the resultant calming effect.
I use paint, drawing, monoprint and video, from life or in the studio
