Siân Bailey

Siân Bailey has had a long career as an IIlustrator, working for many publishers, mainly in the field of Children’s Books. Fairy and folktale collections include The Collins Treasury of Fairytales, Grandmothers’ Stories, and Grandfather Mountain for Barefoot Books.

She painted the alphabet images for Brian Patten’s The Blue and Green Ark: An Alphabet for Planet Earth. She and Peter Bailey collaborated on illustrations for Ben’s Magic Telescope, also written by Brian.

Black and white drawings include Mary Norton’s “The Borrowers” for The Puffin Classics series and Daughter of the Sea, by Berlie Doherty.
Alongside this work she has always drawn in sketchbooks and made small landscapes and still life paintings which she has shown at The Oxton Art Fair.

Siân has also contributed drawings for The Wilfred Owen Commemoration in 2018 and The Argyle Theatre Remembered in 2022 at The Williamson Art Gallery
Siân uses gouache, watercolour, pen and ink and engraves on scraperboard from which she makes hand coloured prints.
