I am fortunate to have had a career as an Illustrator working in the field of Children’s Books.
Interpreting the imaginative worlds of authors to reflect the narrative in a visual way, is a challenge but is immensely absorbing.
.
Alongside illustrating for publication, I have always kept sketch books in which I draw landscapes and still life subjects which require concentration but allow contemplation.
I also paint more personal work, often on a miniature scale, drawing on poetry for inspiration.
Much of my work is painted in gouache or watercolour on Arches paper.
I use scraperboard engraving as a foundation for hand coloured prints.
