Laura Weston
Laura Weston is a printmaker. – Born in Birkenhead in 1964, aged 10 the family moved to Oxton Village. A bit of a daydreamer serendipitously her first secondary school art teacher was the inspirational Mr Mike Carr. After A levels she attended Wirral art foundation, followed by BA Fine Art at Wolverhampton Polytechnic specialising in film and Printmaking.

University became her happy place, graduating with 1st class honours degree in 1987 – on graduation her work was selected for the prestigious “Germinations 4” European Biennale of Colleges of Art.

Her time at University also led to a desire to inspire creativity in others through teaching HE. She was instrumental in the development of the BA Animation Course at Staffordshire University. Her academic career in art design and animation ended in 2024.

She has spent last year completing a CPCAB L3 in Counselling and continues with her printmaking, drawing inspiration from her day dreaming, life experience and emotions – documenting this process @laurawestonart on Instagram. Her printmaking has been recognised with awards and publication including the Kirkus starred picture book “The Butterfly Garden” 2017.
