Roger Sinek is from Zimbabwe, and has been taking photographs since he was 11. He originally came to Liverpool to study architecture and make music. These days he does personal work and undertakes commissions between working weeks at Tate Liverpool. He is an active member of the Soup collective and the Oxton Artists.

Roger Sinek: "I believe photographs are abstract, because freezing an instant is unnatural, and there are ways the camera sees things differently to us.I'm interested in essence and resonance. Seeking the universal in the ephemeral. I like ambiguity, to allow space for the imagination. There should be a remove from the literal, an image not a recording."
